Managing Engineer - A/B (Structural)
The Managing Engineer reports to a Director of Architecture and Engineering and is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of major, complex and varied school construction projects to ensure that they comply with professional standards, and meet schedules and requirements.
**This Position Requires Structural Engineering Experience**
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manages technical resources, guides interdisciplinary teams assigned to departmental projects, and participates in the development of the technical resources required to properly scope and design projects.
* Ensures adherence to the schedule, budget, and/or standards.
* Participates in day-to-day operations to address and resolve specific managerial, operational, and administrative problems and inquiries.
* Performs managerial functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, making decisions about design-related services and materials, and/or making recommendations regarding personnel selection.
* Participates in meetings on issues relating to departmental and interdepartmental functions of the department/unit.
* Performs specific duties based on assignment to a department, division, or unit within the SCA.
Level B position also:
* Manages assignments that are more complex in nature and supervises staff and/or consultants assigned to projects, may assign work to Managing Engineers A and B, and addresses and resolves complications that arise during the design project.
* May supervise Managing Architects/Engineers A and B.
* May act on the behalf of or in the absence of the Studio Director and assumes greater responsibility for projects.
* May act as Deputy Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
* The ability to understand and be understood in English;** and**
* A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer (PE). Current New York State license must be maintained for duration of employment; **and**
Level A requires:
* Seven years of full time progressive experience as a Professional Engineer
* Three years must have been as a leader, project architect, or major project contributor.
Level B requires:
* Eight years of full time progressive experience as Professional Engineer
* Four years must have been as a project leader, project engineer or major project contributor; **or**
* A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
**Substitutions:** A Master's/Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field may substitute for two of the years of full time experience, however requirement of years as project leader, project engineer or major project contributor remains the same.
**Weighted consideration will be given to applicants with experience****in building foundation & superstructure design and building envelope restoration/repair.**
Level A salary range: $76,445 - $129,745
Level B salary range: $85,558 - $145,209
